Hello Humans! Yes you! If you are human and reading this you are like me and the rest of the human race and your willpower gets worse as the day goes on. What drains your willpower? Making decisions. Most people are walking around in severe decision fatigue due to looking attheir phones all day and having to decide what to read, respond to or ignore. How many decisions have you made so far today? The more decisions we make, the less energy our brain has to exert willpower.

Yet, can you even imagine how much different your world would be if you increase your willpower? Who would you be? What would you do? What would you have? Guess what! You can increase and preserve your willpower.

To increase and preserve your willpower, you have to reprogram your brain AND you can do it.

How?

Practice doing something you don’t want to do. And it doesn’t have to be huge. The only requirement is it must be something that makes you a little uncomfortable. There is magic in the uncomfortable.

I remember an agent on my team was terrified to pick up the phone (which felt like a 20 pound weight to them) and ask anyone if they were interested in buying, selling or investing in real estate. They were able to make the first call when they were coached to the realization that they would live no matter what the person on the other end said. And they did! Then the 2nd call was a little easier but still hard. Even without booking an appointment, the fact that they did something difficult, something they didn’t want to do, they felt energized when they finished making the calls. The friction of doing an action when you don’t want to do it is how you grow your willpower and the payoff is huge! Growth happens in the uncomfortable. What this agent experienced was brain science. Getting comfortable doing something you don’t want to do builds the brain area called the anterior midcingulate cortex. This section of the brain controls Willpower. When you resist something you know you shouldn’t do, or say no to the cake when you're on a diet, get up when you want to sleep in, or call someone and ask for business when you are terrified to do it. Yes, things like this, grow your anterior midcingulate cortex. (From now on called the willpower muscle) Doing even the smallest thing today that you don’t want to do helps build willpower. The bad news, If you don’t do anything uncomfortable the willpower muscle shrinks which will give you even less willpower. Successful individuals understand the importance of embracing discomfort. Athletes and entrepreneurs regularly push their limits to excel in their fields.

Similarly, if you aspire to achieve more in life, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone and embrace challenges. Once you see results from getting uncomfortable it becomes
easier to do.

My friends, what is worth getting uncomfortable for in your life? Who is worth getting uncomfortable for? Stay a little uncomfortable everyday and watch your world expand and success shows up instead of the status quo or failure.
